Alerts and one-click opposition

How alerts are checked before they reach you, when they are sent and what happens when you press “Oppose”.

Step by step

  1. TMA's review

Every find waits in TMA's review queue. Only very strong finds (95% and above) for monitored trademarks are approved automatically; TMA approves or archives the others.

  2. Sent in the morning

Approved alerts are sent every morning, usually at 06:00: one notification in the bell for each alert and one summary e-mail — to you and to the trademark's representative.

  3. Under “Alerts”

You see only the alerts that have been sent to you, with the percentage and the opposition deadline.

  4. Oppose

“Oppose this application” opens the opposition: you receive by e-mail the power of attorney for the case and a payment request at TMA's price. After payment, TMA takes it over.

  5. Companies

For a company with a similar name there is no opposition before the trademark office — the alert informs you.

Rules

  • No alert reaches you without passing TMA's review.
  • Only the trademark's owner can start an opposition from an alert.
  • The deadline for an opposition is 3 months from the publication of the other trademark.

Tips

  • Every alert sent stays under “Alerts” and in the bell, even if you lost the e-mail.
