Applying for a trademark (9 steps)
Every step of the form, the name check, the AI class agent, drafts and accepting the risk.
Step by step
1. Territory & representative
Choose Albania or Kosovo. If you have your own representative for that country, they are shown locked; otherwise you choose a public representative or TMA's representative.
2. The mark
The name, type, logo and colours. The name check shows you very similar register trademarks and active companies (up to 10 of each), as “Identical” or “X% similar”. It informs you; it does not stop you.
3. Business & activities
Describe what you do and press “Analyse” — or choose “I will choose the classes myself”.
4. Questions
A few questions, one at a time, that make the protection precise; each explains why it is asked and what it adds.
5. Proposed classes
Core, recommended and defensive classes, with the official terms of the WIPO 2026 classification.
6. Classes & cost
You see the chosen classes and the cost.
7. Applicant
The details of the person or company that becomes the owner of the trademark.
8. Declarations
You confirm the details and undertake to send the power of attorney (POA) within 30 days.
9. Review & pay
Review everything. The name check runs again with your classes; if there are risky trademarks, you must accept the risk. Then “Submit and pay”.
After submitting
The application moves to “Pending payment” and takes you to the payment page.
Rules
- Accepting the risk: “I understand the risk: if the application is refused because of these marks, the responsibility is mine.”
- When your representative prepares the application and the name check finds risky trademarks, you see those trademarks yourself before paying and you accept the risk — the representative's acceptance is not enough.
- The application is not sent for filing until it is paid.
- “Save draft” saves the form; continue it whenever you like from “My applications”.
Tips
- The “very similar” threshold is usually 95%; TMA can adjust it.
